Philadelphia native Jameial Lyons, and Kaveion Keys, of Richmond, Virginia, both 19, who were dismissed from the Nittany Lions and the university in August after being temporarily suspended from the squad.

Lyons was charged with:

  • Rape;
  • Aggravated assault without consent;
  • Voluntary deviate sexual intercourse;
  • Aggravated individual assault without consent;
  • Indecent assault without consent of others;
  • Invasion of privacy without consent.

Keys was charged with:

  • Rape;

  • Aggravated indecent assault without consent;
  • Sexual assault;
  • Indecent assault without consent of others.

Both were charged in connection to an alleged incident on July 7, according to court filings.

The timeline matches a "Timely Warning" that was issued by Penn State in regards to a "known sex offense" that was reported at 1 a.m. on July 7 and reported the following morning.

It is believed the incident - details of which have not been disclosed - happened in a residence hall in the southern portion of the University Park campus.

Lyons and Keys were scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. A preliminary hearing was also set for Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Penn State coach James Franklin is reportedly expected to address the media following practice on Wednesday, though he previously declined to comment on Lyons or Keys.

Lyons played in eight games during his true freshman year, recording six tackles and a sack. Keys redshirted his first season, appearing in only two games, though he was expected to play a larger role in the defense this year before being dismissed.
